I’ve been on a bit of a DIY beauty kick lately. You may remember my DIY hair mask from January. My DIY beauty makin’ fun didn’t end there! And I’m not alone…Nicole got in on the action last week with her DIY Winter Skin Solutions video tutorial.
Not only is making your own beauty products more economical than buying them, but you can control all the ingredients that go into them, which I love. So, if you want a completely natural or organic product, you can just make one! All you need is a little patience and some free time. My beauty lovin’ friend and I made a girly afternoon afternoon out of it and enjoyed a glass or two of vino while we experimented with various DIY beauty projects. I highly recommend you have your own friends over for a little girl bonding/DIY sesh!
One of the ingredients that we used quite a bit was coconut oil. I’m a huge fan of coconut oil for many reasons. Not only is it a great, moisturizing base for many DIY beauty products, but it’s good for you too. So, it’s not a bad idea to have some on hand for your beauty AND nutritional needs. Just sayin.’
I’m sure I’m not the only one whose skin has been a bit dull thanks to winter. Now that spring is headed this way, I want to put my best face forward. The more vibrant my skin is, the less makeup I’ll have to use. Enter this DIY exfoliating facial scrub…
By combining moisturizing oils with exfoliating cane sugar and fragrant essential oil, you’ll have a DIY facial scrub that not only leaves your skin super soft, but smells great too! Simply mix the ingredients below and apply to your skin.
2 tbs organic virgin coconut oil
3/4 cup organic brown pure cane sugar
2 tbs organic extra virgin olive oil
15 drops of orange essential oil
One last thing, this scrub isn’t exclusively for your face. Feel free to slather it on your body too! I loved the way left my hands feeling. So, really I have given you a DIY body scrub recipe as well. Score!
