Olympic Fever Ralph Lauren Style

ralph lauren, western sweater, olympic style
Four days until the Olympics. Are you ready! I am such an enormous Olympics fan (did you know I went to Vancouver with P&G!) that I really get into the spirit. Yep, that even means wearing the red, white and blue with pride.

Ralph Lauren Olympic sweater
Last week Ralph Lauren shared the outfits the athletes would be wearing. Not everyone applauded, buy I was keen on them. I love the classic patchwork sweater. Well, the sweaters SOLD OUT in like a minute. Missed out on that fashion boat. Undaunted, I vowed to still get into the spirit.

Time to do some belated birthday shopping in Soho. I picked up this Blue Label Intarsia-Knit Wool Sweater ($398)–it’s equally patriotic right? It’s a chunky wool-and-alpaca blend and is so cozy. If I were in Sochi I could totally see me curling up by the fire apres ski with a hot chocolate. Since I was shopping, I got sucked into the accessories department. I got these Western Cat Eye Sunglasses ($200) too.

My weekend casual look WILL take me to ski lodges, just not the ones in Russia. Think Connecticut or Vermont instead. In addition to my new sunnies, I paired it with my Old Navy jeans and these fringy boots I scored on Zappos. The Sam Edelman Louie ($127.99) has the perfect heel and a color that goes with everything.

Speaking of Zappos. Let’s talk about the giveaway. I’m celebrating the new Monday Mingle. We’ve said farewell to Jill (she’s still going strong Glamamom.com) and Hell-o to Carly a blogger and personal stylist (and fabulous mom) from the Jersey Shore. This sassy, style maven will be joining Kristin and I as we mingle every Monday and talk fashion. You’ll love Carly for her impeccable taste–I can’t wait for you all to get to know her.

Monday Mingle is a fashionable collaboration between me, Kristin from BonBonRoseGirls.com and Carly from Thirtysomethingfashion.com. Each week we post about our personal style and then invite our friends to join in the fun.

Momtrends was not paid for this post. As always, we get a lot of free clothing to style. But no one paid me to put any of this together.

That is the most beautiful Red, White & Blue Cozy Cardigan. WOW!! I am looking forward to all the Ice Skating the most, for the Olympics. What a great giveaway. My pleasure being the first to link up, today. Check out my Parisian-inspired Pencil Skirt Look.

And for the first time ever I hosted a link up on my blog on Jan 29th. It will be open until midnight PST on Feb 4th. I’d love for you to link up this outfit, Nicole. Thanks so much, Ada. =)

Love a good winter sweater! You look incredible. I want to look like that in jeans!!! Excited for the Olympics and hoping the television coverage is better than the summer Olympics!

    • momtrends

To be honest, we watch very little live. We normally DVR everything to get past the annoying commentary. Can’t wait for the downhill–wish I could be there.

  • Cynthia @ MyRoseColoredShades

Love the sweater and the fringy boots! That’s awesome that you went to the Olympics with P&G.

  • Ann

You are looking great in this sweater and jeans. Cute boots too. You really know how to put things together with style!

  • Truthfully I like the sweater you’re wearing a whole lot more than the one Ralph Lauren designed for the US Olympic team. I’m not a fan of the patchwork sweater look. Yours is much easier on the eye 😉

Love the Olympics – so excited for them to start! I will try to bring out some red and navy… no sure about me, but at least the kids have their Team USA gear!

  • coupontammy

Love the sweater!! We love to watch the Downhill Skiing. We usually wear a lot of red, white, & blue. I have this great sweater that has the Flag on the front. I always wear it as my good luck charm.

  • My favorite thing to wear when watching the Olympics is something cozy! Just like this lovely sweater.

  • Happinessatmidlife

How fun is that sweater. I did not realized it starts in 4 days! We normally are at home very cozy so what I will be wearing would mostly likely be my pajamas 🙂

  • I love the cozy sweater, super cute look Nicole! Great giveaway!

  • I love, love, LOVE that sweater. DIVINE!

  • bittyandbunny

I have to agree with some of the others here; your sweater is way cuter than the Ralph Lauren one. It’s just a tad “thrift store find from the 90’s”, if you know what I mean…Anyway, thanks for the super generous giveaway! When watching the Olympics (from the comfort of my couch), I can usually be found in a big, chunky knit sweater and leggings, or simply my pjs & an oversized hoodie 🙂

    Happy Monday!

  • Americana at its best! Love that pony too!

  • Oh to Be a Muse

Although I’m not that into the patchwork Ralph Lauren look, the American color combo always looks good.

  • Well I love the sweater you chose even more! I’ll wear something equally as comfy and cozy, and just swap out the boots for my pom pom slippers.

  • MJ

Probably skinny jeans and a sweater!

  • Shannon H

Love *your* sweater (the official one, not so much). I’ll be watching the Olympics in my lounge clothes. 😉

  • Not Dressed As Lamb

Nicole that sweater is THE BOMB. Absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Oh I’m said to see Jill leave MM but I know Carly, she’s lovely! And crikey, are the Olympics only a few days away? Where’s the time gone since the summer ones???!!!!! I went and it only feels like a few months ago 😉

  • Reasons to Dress

I also really like the patchwork sweater that Ralph Lauren came up with. I love when they go back to their old school college roots, it’s that preppy American vibe that helped build the empire after all.

  • Elaine

The sweater and leggings look so comfy!

  • Alicia @MommyDelicious

Cozy, stylish, and fabulous… love the sweater! And paired with the denim — nice!
