Enjoying Valentine’s Day at Home with Beaujolais

I love going out with my husband on dates, but I find that it is also really challenging with our busy schedules and just sheer exhaustion. I have come to love the simplicity of just being home at the end of the day, so this Valentine’s Day we are going to enjoy a relaxing non-kid type meal with a bottle of Georges Duboeuf M’con-Villages Flower Label 2011.

Featuring bright and vibrant notes of white flowers, this classic Chardonnay ($12.99) features an elegant body that is spiked with acacia, lilies, hawthorn, citrus notes and an almond and hazelnut nutty finish. This is a great option that goes well with oysters, lobster in cream sauce, or a classic roast chicken for two.

For something rich and romantic, they also have the Georges Duboeuf Morgon Jean-Ernest Descombes 2011. The floral aromatics on the nose are reminiscent of fresh and dried flowers and every swirl of the glass will release the perfume of roses and violets. The wine caresses the palate like velvet and stirs the senses with luxurious notes of black currant, raspberries and a hint of earthiness.

At $15.99, you?ll have plenty left to spend on a sumptuous meal and indulgent dessert. The light tannins and shining acidity of the Georges Duboeuf Morgon Jean-Ernest Descombes 2011 will pair wonderfully with braised short ribs, spaghetti Bolognese, or artisanal chocolates.

When planning your Valentine Day celebration, just remember that roses may be red and violets may be blue, but it?s a bottle of Beaujolais that will really woo.
