Today I posted my personal best time in a half marathon’1:57.01–in the Fall Foliage 1/2 Marathon. Was it the new sneakers or was it the runner? We may never know, but I will say this’the New Balance Women’s 89o made my feet happy on a very hilly 13-mile course.
When shoe-shopping, I worry about heel support and cushioning. Here’s the thing: I like to be kind to my 41-year-old knees–they’ve been very good to me over the years. For some reason, I equate heaviness with support’New Balance has me thinking again. They designed the REVlite 890 to have an extra-light midsole. For the past few weeks, I’ve been training in these lightweight gems. On the uphills it feels like I’ve lost ten pounds (I haven’t, it’s just the shoes). That’s really where I shaved time on this run. Instead of plodding up the hills, I raced them. The shoes have a nice modern look to them and I think the neon laces are pretty snazzy. I log about 20 miles a week and certainly am not a racehorse, I recommend these for shaving time off your races and for making runs more joyful and less work.
