DIY Halloween Crafts with Martha Stewart Crafts

My older daughter loves Halloween and so do I, but between the costumes and decor this holiday I often feel like money gets thrown away before the even bigger holiday push. There is also something a little bland about the looks you find from a store so in a attempt to personalize our Halloween looks and craft with my daughter we decided to make our own Halloween Treat Bags and sparkly pumpkin using a collection of supplies from Martha Stewart Crafts.

As the guru of everything home and decorating, the Martha Stewart Crafts line is complete with everything to keep your Halloween spooky and crafty with cool items like Dimensional Bat SilouettesDimensional Spider SilhouettesHaunted Wine  and Carnival Treat Bags With Basket (among many other Halloween crafts).

For our project, we painted a large pumpkin using the colorful collection of Holographic GlitterMetallic Opaque Glass Paint and the Frost Translucent Glass Paint Set. We grabbed some paintbrushes and freely covered our pumpkin with paint, then glitter and then one of the spiders from the silhouette kit. After drying overnight, we loved the sparkly pumpkin that my daughter remarked was so “pretty and shiny.”

For the treat bag, we used an old kids’ shoe box where I cut off the top part to make a loop and then used Mod Podge to glue the sides together. We then used the Martha Stewart paints and coated each side with different looks – including a pumpkin one, striped one as well as various colors and sparkles galore. It was a lot of fun to go create our own treat bag while also reusing materials that would otherwise be thrown away. After our creation was done, I then coated it in Mod Podge, which acts as a both a glue and a sealant and was ready to use the next day.

Crafting with my daughter was a great way to add a unique look to our Halloween festivities while also saving money, creating and having a blast together. The Martha Stewart Crafts line (available at Michaels) is a great way to use on-trend and vibrant products that can assist you with holidays projects as well as a huge collection to have you crafting throughout the year.
