My daughter, like most girls her age, are in love with McKenna, American Girl‘s Girl of the year. McKenna is an excellent role model so I’m happy to encourage her. She loves gymnastics and “turns her challenges into triumphs.” We haven’t purchased an American Girl Doll (we’re waiting for her next birthday), but I love the American Girl Crafts, especially with my daughter’s idol, McKenna.
Each American Girl McKenna Craft is based on McKenna’s personality in a very creative way. The products include the Sticker Style Frame Girls, Memory Album, Super Spirit Card-Making Pad, Star Spirit Hair Accessories, Friendship Bracelets, McKenna Paper Dolls, McKenna Stickers, Iron-On Drawstring Gymnastics Bag and Sew & Stuff Hamster Pillow (based on Polka Dot, McKenna’s hamster). Each craft McKenna herself would love and girls get to try on McKenna’s positive qualities and aspirations as they create fun products and toys they can play with or wear.
My daughter went crazy for the McKenna stickers. She and her friends came up with dozens of ways of playing with them. The McKenna paper dolls were also a huge hit and cost a lot less than the real doll! Today, we made the Star Spirit Hair Accessories which, I admit, I had to make since my daughter is only five and the suggested age for the crafts is eight. But, my daughter got to design the pony tail holders and head bands herself and had fun watching me make them. She is beyond excited to wear them to school tomorrow.
Another cool idea is watching the movie “An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars” with the Movie Party Kit. Each kit includes invitations you can decorate, popcorn bowls, activities and more. The movie will be available July 3 at Walmart, American Girl stores and on their website. American Girl Crafts are recommended for girls 8 and up. Find American Girl Crafts on Amazon. Prices range from $6.99 to $21.99.
