In our house I really believe in the dynamic of eating meals at a dinner table with no TV, phones or other devices to distract us. I love this time as a way to disconnect and hear about my daughter’s day or listen to what happened with my husband at work. It is also a way for us to enjoy food together while we all wind down for the evening and begin the sometimes difficult bedtime routine.
As much as I like it to be stress-free and seamless, there are often nights that I get home right before dinner or sometimes even have to miss it. As busy moms, it happens and the best we can do is make sure that nutritional meals are ready and prepared for our kids.
When I get in a bind or want a break from cooking, I like to use prepared meals that are both all-natural, wholesome, and tasty and have recently discovered such a brand in Kidfresh.
Created by parents for parents as well as the help of pediatric nutritionists and NYC-based chefs, Kidfresh is a frozen entree company that offers six frozen meals making it a quick and easy for parents as well as one that kids love. My daughter is abig cheese fan where we tested out the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese. She loved the shape and taste that included a blend of cheddar and mozarella cheese. As a with all of the Kidfresh products, the Mac + Cheese was a good source of protein, vitamin A and C and was hidden with carrots! I love that they were able to sneak in some veggies, which complemented the yummy meals. Another bonus, the ingredients are simple and not packed with artificial additives, flavors, colors, preservatives, trans fat and high fructose corn syrup.
We also loved the Rainbow Rice and Chicken, which included a blend of white and brown rice and white chicken. As another safe food for my picky eater, she loved the tender chicken that was also packed with veggies like corn, carrots, and peas. Also featuring ingredients you can pronounce, I loved that this meal was on-hand alternative to cooking or when I had to work late.
Additionally, the line also includes entrees like Spaghetti Loops Bolognese, Totally Twisted Pasta + Meatballs, Muy Cheesy Quesadillas and Easy Cheesy Ravioli – options that are sure to please every palate.
I also loved that each box features a message from founder, Matt Cohen where talks about why the company was started. He noted, “Kidfresh is a twist on children’s favorites.” Adding, “we wanted to create meals that are yummy and nutritious for children while also being affordable and convenient for parents.” I love how they understand what children love but have modified it to fit it with what parents want to feed their children.
Additionally, to reduce their carbon footprint, their packaging is BPA- and Phthalate-free and they use sustainable, 100% recyclable packaging and their boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard. Kidfresh is also a proud sponsor of Save the Children and has donated meals to City Harvest, a New York-based non-profit which helps to feed families in need.
As the perfect solution to today’s busy parents, Kidfresh has a fantastic line of wholesome and delicious entrees that children will love while also giving parents the reassurance that they are giving them the best possible meal when they can’t cook themselves.
Kidfresh meals are available at Shaws, BigY, Roche Brothers, Whole Foods, Kings, Publix and a growing list of other major retailers. Find a local
