New Calcium/Vitamin D Product from Caltrate

This summer, many women are shielding themselves from the sun’€™s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays by using sunscreen and wearing hats, but this blocks the body from absorbing the sunlight necessary to produce vitamin D.  Leading experts believe up to 77 percent of Americans have insufficient levels of vitamin D, thus increasing their risk for falls and fractures.

Four things you need to know:

  • The primary source for vitamin D is direct exposure to sunlight.
  • As the body ages, it becomes less efficient at producing Vitamin D from the sun.
  • Rather than increasing sun exposure, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends people obtain vitamin D through adequate diet or supplements.
  • Caltrate now has double the amount of vitamin D, making it the most vitamin D rich supplement available.
