Nicole with The Children’s Place Designer, Michael Giannelli
To kick-off BlogHer 2012, Momtrends hosted a fun bash with bloggers and editors to showcase the gorgeous holiday line from the Children’s Place. Held at the Bryant Park Hotel, the event brought together our favorite NYC bloggers and a fun group of new faces that are in town for BlogHer.
Upon entering the room we had a chance to look at the latest styles on mannequins and real children. The collection was a mix of glitz and glam sprinkled in with some color and classic pieces like mirco fleeces, blazers, plaid shirts and fun vests. This included a fun selection for boys with denim, plaid, oxfords and bow ties and a lot of sparkle and shine for the girls with pouffy skirts, colorful leggings and floral dresses. Additionally, the line has a vibrant color palette with a mixture of cream, bright red, grey, and white as well as some leopard prints, polka dots, plaid and stripes mixed in to showcase the many glitzy looks of the season.
The Children’s Place Designer, Michael Giannelli was on-hand to showcase a few pieces from line and he spoke of how his team looks ahead (about a year) to scout for trends – often venturing to Europe for inspiration and new ideas. They also think about the seasons during the design process with the idea of a snow day in mind for the winter and holiday collection. For next season, Michael mentioned that they are sticking with neon for spring and adding in brighter tones for summer!
The stunning details are apparent in the holiday collection where boys and girls can enjoy a mix of classic items as well as trendy pieces like leopard jackets for girls and fedora hats for boys. The line also includes items for baby and I loved the deep red sequin dress and cream-color palette that would be gorgeous over the holidays. They are also ultra soft and lightweight – making them ideal for delicate skin.
The accessories were also a lot of fun with cute critter hats, glittery necklaces, frilly headbands and colorful bangles that girls will love adding to their new looks. The shoes were also amazing complete with rugged boots for boys and sparkly shoes and boots for girls. The baby booties were also a lot of fun with fur and colorful laces.
Since this event is leading up to BlogHer it was also all about networking where our guests mixed and mingled as they learned more about each other and their various blogs. I loved catching up and checking out the gorgeous (and glitzy) holiday collection as a way to connect and kick-off an amazing (and busy) weekend.
