I have a hole in my UGGs. I know. I know. Two things to be ashamed of…One, I own UGGs. Two, I own ratty UGGs. Well, people, go ahead and judge. I love my sheepskin boots. And if I’m not mistaken, these unfashionable fashion statements are still holding on strong in the fall and winter fashion scene.
My reason for keeping them around is one thing and one thing only–comfort. There’s nothing like a soft sheepy fluff on your feet. But to be honest, I’ve become quite bored with the way they look. They are a one-trick sheep. Although I know I should purchase a new pair because of the hole, I haven’t been able to bring myself to do it. They’re just…UGGly.
When I found out a way to add more fashion along with crazy comfort, I became obsessed with L.A.-based LAMO Sheepskin. They take the relaxed, comfortable sheepskin boots but yet add an edge and on-trend twists.
I’m currently loving LAMO Sheepskin‘s Edison style (shown above) from their 2012 collection. Available in black, chocolate (my favorite) and olive, this is the perfect transition from summer to fall. With an open Gladiator sandal style it has super luxe, twin-faced summerweight shearling that envelopes your leg without adding heat. I’ll be pairing it with denim cut-offs and a light and flowing feminine kimono jacket. My friend also suggested it with a fun floral summer dress and a solid colored cardi. I also can’t wait to see what these things look like with tights.
To keep the summer season always on my mind, I also love the Original Surfer boot with its cool, temperature-balancing summerweight sheepskin. In playful colors like blue, sage (shown above) and sand, the leather is punctuated with large rivets that add ventilation to go from hot days to cooler fall nights.
They also have a men’s section full of moccasins, clogs and booties. My husband is currently crushing on the Boston Driving Moc, and not just because of where we live.
Something else you should know about LAMO–they partner with Soles4Souls. Every seven seconds, this Soles4Souls distributes a pair of shoes to someone in need…that’s almost 12 million pairs to date have been given to people in emergency situations about the world. Every pair of LAMO shoes that you buy with a Soles4Souls tag means you’re helping. Buy one, give one. Kinda changes the meaning on BOGO.
And these boots are über-comfortable, with dense yet soft touchable wool from Australian Merino sheep. These boots have it all–there’s style, comfort and a charitable side. A match made in heaven. Or Los Angeles. Well, it is the city of angels, so you do the math.
LAMO’s Edison style is available for $139 at www.lamofootwear.com.
