After my busy schudle during BlogHer I was elated to learn that I would be attending an intimate brunch where I would be able to eat, sit, drink and take in the gorgeous atmosphere of the Four Seasons. Hosted by the Four Seasons and Trumpeting Media, the event was held in The Garden Restaurant where a small group of bloggers were treated to a local farm-to-glass tasting menu featuring local and seasonal ingredients from the NY-area. Prepared by Chef John Johnson, we were treated to a sampling of the new menu, which will be open for brunch on the weekend starting on September 13th!
To kick-off the brunch we all enjoyed a trio of mini cocktails including a clear jersey tomato water martini, a tri star strawberry rossini and my favorite a spicy jersey beefsteak bloody mary. The tomato juice was amazing rich and fresh with chunky bits of tomatos mixed in! We also had a delicious bread basket filled with muffins, croissants and rolls to tie us over until the first course.
While waiting for the food I loved soaking in relaxed vibe of the Four Seasons. It was amazingly clean and sophiscated, but being too stuffy. A modern hotel for families, there was also a Dylan’s Candy Bar cart on-hand where kids could load up a bag with their favorite sweet treats. Our group also enjoyed our own bag of treats that was filled up by a pin-striped candy man!
Our first-course was a soup, which was either a white almond gazpacho with lemon basil or a local heirloom tomato and watermelon gazpacho with mustard gelato. I tried the white almond gazpacho and loved the refreshing and smooth texture of the soup that also happened to be beautifully designed.
We then tried the amazing pizzette of catskill smoked salmon that was dressed with wasabi caviar and fresh herbs. I am a big fan of smoked salmon, but this pizzette had to be the freshest salmon I have ever tried. I loved every bite! I also enjoyed the organic French toast that was stuffed with blueberries, nutella and butter – you can get any better than that! We then had a local lobster hash that included a poached farm egg that was lightly drizzled in choron sauce and some crispy french fries with the amazing Sir Kensington ketchup (full review on that brand soon). After all of that we still managed to have room for dessert and enjoyed the luxurious summer trifle of local peaches and pell farm strawberries.
Stuffed, happy and relaxed, this amazing event was a fantastic way to sample some items on the upcoming brunch menu, meet with Chef John Johnson, enjoy the ambiance and enjoy conversation with friends.
