$250 Back to School Giveaway

The sweet days of summer are winding down. Some of you are already packing lunches and waiting for buses. For me, there’s a week and a half to go. Today I clicked away to create a fun outfit for my younger daughter.

This year is a big transition for her. She’s going to bring her lunch to school and stay a full day at her PreK. To mark this momentous occasion, I need a special outfit. Rather than spend money on these items, I’m all about redeeming miles. With as few as 2,500 miles, you can start qualifying for great Back to School shopping rewards.

Membership Reward Points can be a back to school time and money saver for those who want their must-haves, but don’t want to go digging for coupons and codes. AMEX rewards has an entire section devoted to Back to School and Fall Fashion. I went to two key locations to shop: Pottery Barn Kids and GAP.

First item? The essential backpack. Pottery Barn Kids has special preschool-sized backpacks and I simply adore this owl pattern. Price $29.50 plus the $7 monogram fee (so worth it!). Then I added on the coordinating MacKenzie Owl Lunch Box. Price $22.50.

Then I added in the cute pink nesting trio. Price $29 and the Total bill $59. Final lunch purchase: The Klean Kanteen also in the owl print. Price $19.50. Total bill around $125 with tax. AMEX rewards allows you to swap 5,000 miles for a $50 gift card. Got more miles? Get a bigger gift card.

As for the outfit that will be photographed and sent to grandparents, I picked this sweet embellished top. ($19.50) with the striped Play Skirt ($19.50). Layer on the tights ($9.95) and Ribbon Cardigan ($29.50) and we’re set! Total bill around $100 with tax. GAP gift cards start at 2500 miles or $25.

Did you know you can use your points on Amazon.com? When it came time to get the shoes, I simply clicked over from the AMEX site right onto Amazon. When I was ready to pay, I was able to simply deduct miles. If you can’t quite cover your purchase in miles, don’t worry, you can split the purchase in miles and a credit card. I found these great sparkle (she’s 4 and loves a sparkle) shoes from Naturino. Price $50.

I curated this ‘€œback-to-school look’€ working with American Express Membership Rewards Points. From head to backpack I spent about $250 or 25,000 points. Now it’s your turn!

Win it! One lucky reader is going to win a $250 Amex Reward Card to do some of your own shopping! and share an opportunity to win over $250.00 in daily giveaways for your readers. To enter, answer the question in a comment: ‘€œWhat would you get with 25,000 MR Points?’€ It could be a new iPad courtesy of the Apple Gift Card or some great gift cards at your favorite clothing stores. Tell me your pick and you could be a winner!

Be sure to visit the American Express Twitter Sweeps here for more chances to win on the American Express Membership Rewards Facebook Page. Also, check out their Member-Get-Member referral page for more details.
