Beach Fashions

We headed to Bermuda for last week and that’s where we shot these images. The kids got out of school and we hopped right on a plane to beat the heat in NYC. Plus an early June trip often means the beach isn’t very crowded.

I’m not allowed to tell you where we were–Mr. Momtrends went there as a child and isn’t keen on the word spreading. So I’m keeping his little secret. But we did have to dress for dinner each night. That meant sundresses for me. When left to my own devices, I will always pick a halter style such as this one from Anna Sui.

The dress is five years old, but I always feel great in it and I love the easy jersey fabric it travels so well. Halter styles seem to suit my wide-ish shoulders. This dressed can be crammed into a small space in my bag and come our perfect when hung up in the shower. Total travel power.

My hair was pretty much damp (it’s really thick and I swam non-stop) for 5 days, so at night I always pulled it back in a ponytail or bun. And I only wore lip gloss and mascara at night–it’s a low key look for sure.

The shoes are a new pair from Lauren by Ralph Lauren. They coordinated with everything I brought on the trip and they were made for dancing. Each night the resort had some entertainment. This particular evening there was a band. The kidlets and I were dancing up a storm as we looked over the Atlantic. A pretty special memory.
