Earth Day at Target

Did you know that if you use reusable bag just ten times, 25 plastic bags are saved from going to a landfill. Over a lifetime that equates to some 22,000 plastic bags per person’€”a small change that can make a big difference in reducing waste and saving money.

On one of the first Earth Day celebrations in the 1970′€™s, Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target) handed out individual tiny trees to guests. This year, Target is handing out 1.5 million reusable bags in stores nationwide on April 22.

The new bag, which encourages you to ‘€œfill, refill, repeat’€ will make your shopping trip a little less routine and a lot more stylish. It’€™s also an easy way to live more sustainably. If that wasn’€™t incentive enough, you’€™ll also receive a 5-cent discount for every reusable bag you use during your Target shopping trip every day.

Since the launch of the reusable bag program in November 2009, Target guests have brought hundreds of millions of their own bags into Target stores, saving millions of dollars.
