Getting Creative with Toy Storage

Sometimes the best ideas for toy storage are using items you already own around the house. I love the idea of keeping small items in glass jars, for instance, like in the above image from Christina Hutson’s home in THE GLOW. The shelves are simple, but with the jars of similar objects, it looks curated and cool. Find similar glass jars here.

Another great trend is using Vintage Storage Boxes as toy storage. Purchase them ready made or make your own. Find a large selection of reasonably priced vintage boxes (like the one below) here.

Etsy has a lot of unique storage ideas like these lovely Fabric Organizer Storage Bins. These stylish chevron bags are perfect for hair accessories, doll clothes, cars, books or Barbie’s.

This Children’s Tool Box is perfect for holding art supplies, cars, LEGOs, pretend tools, even diapers. The box is designed to look vintage and available in several color options.

Why not use hanging planters as toy storage? Plus, they’re perfect for keeping toys within easy reach and, especially, off the floor! (Image from Better Homes and Gardens.)

For quite possibly the most adorable way to display toys, Ferm Living’s Dorm and Little Dorm could house your child’s collection of My Little Ponies, Princesses, souvenirs from family trips and all her other treasures.

A good old favorite for containing toys are plastic tubs. You can find them just about anywhere, but my personal favorites are Tubtrugs because they come in six sizes and fourteen colors, including our kids’s favorites like bright pink, turquoise, orange, red and purple. These indestructible buckets are perfect for toys because they are so versatile and can be easily cleaned. They’re also made from recycled materials. I love the contemporary vibe and, of course, the colors! Tubtrugs are now also sold at Pottery Barn Kids.

I really like most of these…but the glass jars? Accident waiting to happen if you were to use those to hold anything within reach of a child who actually wanted to use it.

I love the planter idea. I’m going to seriously look into how I can incorporate that into either my playroom or the kid’s rooms!
