TransPack: Better Ski Gear

We dutifully hit the slopes every weekend with the kids. If you are counting, that’s 8 skis, 8 poles, 4 helmets, 8 boots, 8 gloves…you get the picture. It’s a lot of expensive gear to keep track of every time we ski

Then I started to notice the organized moms on the mountain (you know the ones who don’t look frazzled by the process–and the same ones who usually have four kids–not two to organize). They had these cool TransPack bags that stashed helmets, boots, gloves, goggles, etc inside. I got right on the case and ordered some bags.

Thanks to these cool ski bags, the kids can toss most of their gear on their backs. They become mini sherpas, and mom and dad don’t have to do all the heavy lifting. The Junior Bags (about $49.95 on Amazon) have the special “Isosceles Storage System” that fits boots, helmet and gear. The padded straps are comfortable (according to my 6 year old) and tough enough for travel and to withstand the rigors of the sport. There are three separate compartments keep stuff tidy and help to separate wet boots from dry clothing.

Of course it helps that the bags come in cute prints for the kids. Our two ski bunnies gravitated towards the pink and purple, but there are plenty of funky prints for boys (Skulls anyone? This pattern is a limited edition from Jeff Hooks) and neutrals for parents. The design is the same for adults ($59.95 on Amazon), the bag is just a little bigger.

Now I’m not saying we never forget anything with TransPack–its just that life on the slopes got a heck of a lot easier to navigate. With President’s Day weekend right around the corner, I know a lot of you will be skiing. These bags might just make the trip smoother.
