Beauty & Beyond: Oscar Red Carpet Hair Styles

Several questions for you after Sunday’s Oscar night.

1.    Why was there a nun on the Red Carpet? Explain this to me now.
2.    Has Rooney Mara ever seen the sun? Bravo for your milky skin.
3.    Did Ryan Seacrest ever get those ashes out of his tux? Shame on you, Sacha.
4.    Why was Angie pulling a Captain Morgan pirate’s stance with her right leg? Yes, we get it. You’re sexy. There’s a slit in your daring, black velvet Versace.

Another thing you have to ask is how all those glamazons got their hair Red Carpet ready. RUSK Platform Artist and creative design team member Naz Kupelian has the answers on how three lovelies looked so effortless…

Stacy Keibler

Not only does she have Hollywood’s most handsome man on her arm, she really pulls off her own “old Hollywood” style. To achieve her graceful modern twist, he suggests blowing dry the hair with a large round brush (he suggests a small amount of RUSK Wired or smoothness and control). Using a curling iron, curl in the right side of the hair in an angle and sweep hair to one side and twist under with a pin. Spray with a light hairspray for some hold.

Rooney Mara

One of Kupelian’s favorite looks from the night is Mara’s simple and modern elegant ‘do. “The wide straight bang is past the hairline and is a newer approach to the traditional bangs,” he says. “Blow dry the hair and bangs with RUSK Deepshine oil to tame frizz, tie hair into a high ponytail and roll the tail under and pin.” Finish with a hair spray spray for strong hold.

Angelina Jolie

Never mind on the Red Carpet, I would wear this look vacuuming the living room carpet. It’s so elegant and effortless. “This look was sexy and daring for Angelina,” says Kupelian. Get this look by blow drying the hair with a round brush and twisting the brush to make curls away from the face at the same time creating body and texture in the hair.  A great product for adding body is the Naz Kupelian Foaming Sea Salt Mousse. A few pieces in the front can be curled for some hold and finished with hair spray for some hold and texture.
