Monday Mingle: Dresses that Work

We love casual dresses and this new one from Lucy (www.lucy.com) is ideal for travel or simply for slipping on for a day where you need to look more polished that jeans, but still yearn for comfort.

A few weeks ago I had a packed day. Drop off for the girls, then a few biz appointments including an interview with Angie Harmon (click here). I walked about 6 miles, so I need a outfit that could move with me. Plus it needed to work with boots that were made for walking. This pair is 5 years old and from a shop in Paris. Total score on that shopping trip.

I decided to debut the dress that Lucy.com sent me–it’s a great synthetic material that is soft and not crunchy. The dress came with a belt that was WAY too high for my body. So I cut it off and added a wide braided. Then I layered on some cool printed tights from Hue (click here for a similar pair from Hanes).

The necklace is from Olive & Bettes a great NYC boutique (sorry they don’t sell online).  On a recent trip to my daughter’s optometrist I stopped into the UES shop. I fell in love with the necklace. It works with all the navy, gray, chocolate and black in my closet. I think the outfit came off pretty well. Though Angie liked my nails most–I had on a chocolatey-black color from Essie. And boy is she tall!

Now we want to hear from you ladies. What do you put together this week? Was it a new look or a twist on a favorite?

Win it! One lucky reader is going to win this fab accessory package from American Eagle. Prize includes a bohemian woven shoulder bag, small printed zip bag and foldable sunglasses. To enter, simply link up.

  1. I broke down and went to the Loft sale! I’ve been wearing a sweater poncho that is to die for and teamed it up with some old faves. I really love your patterned tights and I know what it’s like to walk around the city for meetings in heels and boots! By the way, I adore Angie Harmon…gorgeous woman. Lucky you!

I love comfortable yet stylish boots like those – and they are such a classic pair – they will never go out of style! I found a wonderful pair the other day – a wedge black boot from Gentle Souls, so so comfortable. I hope I win this giveaway, I LOVE that purse!
