Fun Japanese Writing Tools for the Holidays

No office is complete without high quality pens. Although the majority of my writing happens via a keyboard I do love jotting down notes and my never ending checklist so that I can strike out completed tasks. This holiday season, I have been searching for the hottest pens for stocking stuffers for friends and discovered a fantastic company called JetPens.com.

Based in California and founded by two moms and their friend, on JetPens.com you can find unique, high-quality writing instruments and stationery products. On their site, you can find everything from white-ink pens to innovative auto-lead-rotation pencils as well as chic pencil cases and beautiful journals. They also carry a huge variety of unique products that are hard to find anywhere else – many of which are exclusively imported from Japan and Germany. They mainly import from Japan because their tips can handle different types of writing habits.

Check out some of their fantastic pens for some inexpensive, but useful gifts:

Heat Sensitive Erasable Gel Pens. These pens erase by friction and come in a sleek, retractable body. They also include a clip to extend and retract the tip. Difficult to find in the US, these pens are sturdy and did well with even flowing lines. The ink is also waterproof and also designed so that it won’t smudge and spread all over your paper.

Frixion Colors. This set of 6 pens features a colorful array of gel ink pens that you could write and erase. Since they use friction to erase there are no eraser by products left on your paper. I love this feature and it came in handy numerous times. I also loved that they are made of recycled plastic.

Gel Ink Pens. This sleek and very thin pen writes as fine as 0.4 mm – making it thinner than most pens in the US. The pen also has a rubber end to rub  thermo sensitive ink away so that eraser by-products are produced. I also loved how the pen wrote very smoothly, in colorful lines, and erases without a trace.

Donut Tape Dispensers. In addition to pens, JetPens.com sells other office supplies like this donut tape dispenser.  You simply place tape in these refillable dispensers for a clean cut of tape. I love my mango colored dispenser but the line also includes colors like Caramel and Strawberry.

Ohto Chocolate Bar Cross Paper Clip. A pack of six clips that are shaped like chocolate bars, I loved using their cross clip that I used to keep papers in place as well as to hold my place in my notebooks and books.

Love the pens! I remember when I lived in Thailand and would go into the department stores and they’d have a rainbow wall of these colored pens from Japan. It was so fun to try them out. I especially like gel pens. So fun!

They are fantastic – They write so smoothly and I love that they can erase without the yucky eraser residue.
