Friday Food: Farmer’s Classic Pickle Event

We just love new food trends. And when you combine food trend reporting at a hot restaurant? Well, we are in heaven.
Vlasic invited us to join in the roll-out of its new farm-fresh product, the Farmer’s Garden by Vlasic pickles. They hosted an event at the David Burke Kitchen, NYC to introduce the product to editors in advance of its August launch in grocery stores.

In addition to a yummy pickle-filled menu from the team at David Burke Kitchen (think replacing the “typical” wine-and-cheese pairing experience with pickles!) Mr. Momtrends came along and tried his hand at pickling. We give the recipe a huge thumbs up and encourage you all to try these when they hit the shelves.

And for those of you pickle fans we’ve found this great recipe for summer entertaining from the Vlassic site: Sliders with Pickle Chipotle Sauce (serves 10)

Ingredients:
1 Pack King’s Hawaiian Bread Rolls, or your favorite slider-style bread roll of choice
1 Pound chicken, pork or steak, cooked and chopped

For the Pickle Chipotle Sauce

Ingredients:
1 small can Chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce
2 Roma tomatoes, rinsed and diced
1 Vlasic® Kosher Dill pickles, diced
1 teaspoon Vlasic® pickle juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Slice open the rolls and lay flat on a surface. Bake, grill or roast the chicken, pork or steak. Let cool and chop or shred. Put on the slider bun. To make the sauce, add all ingredients to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add to the meat on the bun. Make sliders.

Now we want to know what you’ve been up to this week. Are you canning the fruits of the season or taking on a new baking project? Enquiring minds want to know!

  12. I read this post with my mouth watering. I LOVE Vlassic pickles and they are really hard to get in the UK – only a limited number of speciality retailers have them. Even after twenty years I can’t get my head round it, but most folks in England have never had a proper cucumber pickle! Whenever I see Vlassic, I snap up several jars so luckily I do normally have some on hand, and I will be able to try The Pickle Chipotle sauce which sounds just delish!
